Awaken to His Coming

This is a great time of year to talk about AWAKENING! We’re celebrating the greatest wake-up call in the history of everything. Here’s how it’s described in Matthew 4 as quoted from Isaiah’s prophesy:

“The people who were sitting (living) in [spiritual] darkness have seen a great Light,
And for those who were sitting (living) in the land and shadow of [spiritual and moral] death, Upon them a Light has dawned.”
Matt. 4:16 AMP

When Jesus came, the whole world woke up. I don’t have time to share all the examples today, but I want to read one. Eight days after Jesus was born, Mary & Joseph took him to the Temple to be circumcised. After Simeon prophesied over his future, we’re told someone else entered the scene.

There was a prophetess, Anna, the daughter of Phanuel, of the tribe of Asher. She was very old, and had lived with her husband for seven years after her marriage, and then as a widow to the age of eighty-four. She did not leave the [area of the] temple, but was serving and worshiping night and day with fastings and prayers.  She, too, came up at that very moment and began praising and giving thanks to God, and continued to speak of Him to all who were looking for the redemption and deliverance of Jerusalem.Luke 2:36-38 AMP

Anna had been awake to the coming Messiah for a long time already. Can you even imagine how excited she must have been?! After giving her entire life to waiting and worshiping, the day had finally come!

Awakening . . . are we blown away by the presence of God around us? Look for that this week as we begin the Advent Season. Let’s live wide awake to the coming of Jesus, both past and future, as we celebrate his birth.
