I Run to You

I run to you, God; I run for dear life.
    Don’t let me down!
    Take me seriously this time!
Get down on my level and listen,
    and please—no procrastination!
Your granite cave a hiding place,
your high cliff nest a place of safety.

You’re my cave to hide in,
    my cliff to climb.
Be my safe leader,
    be my true mountain guide.
Free me from hidden traps;
I want to hide in you.
I’ve put my life in your hands.
    You won’t drop me,
    you’ll never let me down.

Psalm 31: 1-5 [MSG]

What a beautiful image, LORD, of the security you bring to my life. No matter what crisis, no matter what trial . . . I can run to you. Thank you that I can trust you to protect and guide. You are my safe leader. Thank you for the promise I will never be alone. You are mighty and strong beyond my imagination, yet gentle and caring—willing to stoop to my level and listen to my fear.

I cherish our times together . . . our talks in the morning and throughout each day. Thank you for allowing me to hide myself—my dreams, my insecurities, my treasures, my fears, my ALL—in you. I know you will never let me down.

Amen.
