New Year, New Study

The first week of a new year is a great time to set goals and get back into routine with a renewed determination. I’ve done my fair share of that this week. What I have not done is take down my Christmas decorations. Anybody with me? I know there is a large group of you who takes them down the minute Christmas is over and has them packed away before New Year’s. I am not one of you. My goal has always been to get them down right after Epiphany (January 6), but some years even that is a stretch.

What I have done this week is dive deeper into Habakkuk in preparation for our new study that begins in mid-January. Let me tell you, for a small book, this one contains its fair share of gems. I can’t wait to get started! For example, did you know Habakkuk is quoted three times in the New Testament? That’s a pretty good accomplishment for a minor prophet whose name is as hard to pronounce as it is to spell.

So if, like me, you made bible study a part of your goals for the coming year, I hope you will join us either Sunday or Tuesday mornings this winter as we take an in-depth look at Habakkuk. I know you’ll be glad you did. Here are the details and the registration links:

Habakkuk: Learning to Live by Faith by Lydia Brownback (taught by the Equip Her teaching team)

Do you find yourself baffled by injustice and cruelty in the world? Do you struggle when your faithful prayers seem to go unanswered? Then, you have much in common with the prophet Habakkuk. In his short book, the prophet displays raw honesty in prayer and a posture of waiting on God. This study will deepen our understanding that even if God’s ways don’t seem to make sense, we can trust that His way is the best way
